My baby is Breach! Help

The doctor doesn’t seemed concerned but my little guy is breach. She ( the team of doctors)  says he still has 4 weeks to turn on his own. UGH. She also said it won’t be pretty when it happens– that I will definitely feel the summer-salt.  I was looking forward to a normal — uneventful delivery –no complications.  My little man is currently sitting with his head  in my left ribs, butt low and with his feet in left ribs.  ( Kinda Like a V) He has been sitting in this general position for ages. Yes he moves but still goes back to this same “hammock like” pose.

Not to add to my stress but I thought the huge lump in my ribs was a back & butt and was surprised to find out it was the head. He definitely has gotten filled out in the last few months. The good part about this stress is we get to have an extra ultra sound– Yippee – Its been months.  He was smaller than a Crayola Crayon the last time we got to peek inside.

Any moms out there with breach babies? You advice would be greatly appreciated.   Comment below or email me privately at JennyBMarks@gmail.com

Snow Days

Love being stuck in the house today. Snow finally showed up 12 hours late.  Seems like tomorrow is going to be another snow day.

Best Prices on Diapers- Wholesale Clubs

So I haven’t had the baby yet — I am due in about 10 weeks. But my husband & I talk and try to plan for the up coming expenses. We are members of Sam’s & Costco. We mistakenly assume the jumbo case of diapers or baby stuff in general will automatically be the best price simply because its a “wholesale club”. BUT WE ARE WRONG. Shopping around is still the best option. I found that Walmart had a better price and unlike the wholesale clubs takes coupons. The same pack size of Pampers Swaddlers ( 264 diapers) was $6 bucks cheaper. ( I have a $1. coupon)

It took less than 5 min to price compare. I saved the baby section of Walmart, Sam’s & Costco to my favorites section of my desktop. Plus the sites all show a “at your store” price or “online” price.

Of course I may not have a coupon everytime -and the prices change. The cheap deal this week may be the most expensive next month.

Moms & Dads out there any suggestions? Has anyone gotten a good price via a website?

Great Deals on Craigs List

Love Craigslist ( Raleigh area) The  holidays are finally over, everyone has finally gone home and we are putting baby’s room together. I am SHOCKED how much  NEW stuff is for sale on Craigslist (& almost new too). Baby clothes, toys, bouncy seats, bottles etc.

The New & Observer (12/26 Sunday) even had an article that “thrift” is the new black. Once the roads clear I am going shopping — forget Target, Babiesrus or even Walmart. I am hitting the thrift stores and the Craig’s List Ads.  The cool thing about Craig’s list is I can search “baby boy clothes Garner” so I don’t waste all my gas driving around looking for the good deal. Gas is over $3/gallon for 87 here in Willow Springs NC.  I am not driving all the way to Cary for $10 worth of onezies.

Timing is everything– the year is ending so IF you need that last-minute tax deduction donate it to your local church thrift store, charity etc. Which explains why Craig’s list and local thrift stores are over flowing with really good stuff.

If you really think about it — why pay full price for infant clothes?– they will only wear it an instant. Suppose my son is 9 lbs or long — He may wear something only once or not at all.

OK, there is some really gross stuff for sale too — Like a “used only once” breast pump or used car seat. I would worry too much about putting my son into a strangers used car seat. Maybe if I knew & trusted the person I would think differently. Suppose something happened to it — car accident, recalled etc.

The more I can save on the short-term baby stuff the more money I will have for the big surprise expenses.

The goal is to  save where I can now so I can stay home with my son longer.

The Wedge is worth it.

Best Pregger thing I have used so far @ 25 weeks!  A Boppy — not the nursing horseshoe but a wedge — It looks kinda like a big piece of cheese.  It perfectly fits under my belly so I can sleep.– Yipeee-   Plus it works great as back support, knee support etc.  Most importantly its small.  Formally, it’s called a “pregnancy wedge”.  I was given it in a box of “hand me downs” from a girlfriend but it’s totally worth the $15 bucks at www.shopbobby.com.  I have tried throw pillows of the sofa and regular sleep pillows– they take up too much space. I end up fighting with pillows and blankets  in the middle of the night.  Tangled messes do not contribute to a good nights sleep. The wedge it worth it.

Elizabeth Edwards

Totally surprised she passed so quickly. She was definitely a fighter. I hope her kids do OK without her. Hopefully they can have some kind of positive relationship with there dad despite his actions.

A New Point of View Smacked Me

I am at a stand still, a fork in the road.  (goodness I sound cliche)  So my situation has changed like so many real estate agents. Some just get out, some retire, some can’t afford it, some just give up and I am the “some” that is having a BABY — A Son to be precise –FOR REAL this is not some lame excuse to get out of real estate. I have every intention of returning. However, in the mean time my personal life — (my baby bump) has moved to the front burner.

I have had lengthy conversations with friends, other agents, my parents & Rusty (my husband). Making a major change to your business or closing up shop is tough in any economy is not a light decision. Many things have raced thru my mind that lead me to this decision.

1) Should I really spend the money if I am not going to be 110% focused on building my business?

2) Will what needs to be done to succeed in real estate conflict with the kind of parent I want or need to be?

2) How will I manage being a new mom, married and working?

3) How will I keep my promise to myself & my child to NOT USE DAYCARE?

4) Can we afford to do it all?

5) How can I show houses & be puking? Will I even fit behind the steering wheel?

6) How will I get back into the hunt? Will I fall behind?

Yes I sound a little panicked;What pregnant woman isn’t.

You must first understand, I have always worked since I was 14 years old.  In the beginning, I was a babysitter, dog walker & hospital volunteer; I advanced to campus mail room and graduated to restaurant manager. — Ultimately I  grew tired of working for someone else and became “self employed” a Broker, Realtor & Certified Negotiator.  If you are a Realtor you know how much hard work we put into every lead, closing, listing etc.  Its not easy to just stop and put it all on hold.

My mom says as a child I was never idle — I didn’t like to sleep and was always moving, always wanted to be doing something.  Real Estate fit me perfectly; it is definitely not the best choice for the IDLE.   ( &  I suspect motherhood is not either).

Being a stay home mom even for a couple months will be tough for me although I hope to enjoy it as well. It feels weird to consciously plan to “not go to work”. I wrote a list to turn off all my real estate responsibilities and began working thru it — till I called ActiveRain to shut off my blog and the nice man that answered said – “Why do you need to stop blogging…..?”

OMG He was right why do I need to stop blogging! There are things readers, future/past clients or other agents will still want to hear about.  Yes– A new point of view smacked me in the face.!! Taking time to  stop & think about it made me realize my voice had already begun to change.  I have new interests and new perspectives. My new point of view was emerging.  Reading and writing posts will allow me to keep up with real estate while still staying home with my son.   Yes, I won’t have time to list & help buyers, but I can still stay on top of it. I can still refer and blog.

Becoming a parent may be the best thing for my real estate career.
